The Portrait Process

The Golden Hour
When scheduling an outdoor portrait session with Frazer Studio , you may notice that we recommend we create your images only during the best light of the day.....  generally the last sixty to ninety minutes before the sun has completely set. This special window of time known to photographers as “The Golden Hour” is the period of time when the light from the sun is at its most perfect quality. With its long rays diffused across the entire sky, the light creates a flattering glow and shimmer for picture perfect skin tones and deliciously warm portraits. During mid-day, when every ray of the sun seems to find its way to our delicate, over exposed skin, the shadows created are usually too deep in contrast to the glare. Instead of fighting the harsh light, it’s better to schedule outdoor sessions during the Golden Hour when the sun still works its magic—but in our favour. We do also have specific areas that we can work first thing in the morning, and we also use a beautiful area around 6:00 pm . Both these areas work well when young children are involved.

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

After chatting on the phone or in the studio we plan the best time for your session. We work hard to plan a time that works to fit in with your busy schedules. We make a plan that includes any special requests, such as a location that is important to you

THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION

We will have arranged where to meet and when you arrive at the scheduled time, we will get to know you and your family. Prepare for a wonderful time during our photography session.

THE VIEWING & ORDERING SESSION

You’ll see your portrait images on the "state of the art" theatre presentation system at our lake location, usually the next morning. This will help you to distill the images down to the best of the best. We allow plenty of time for you to make your decisions without feeling pressured and simply ask that you come prepared to make your portrait order at this time, by bringing all decision makers to this presentation. This can take an hour to an hour and a half.
We request a deposit of 50% of your order at this time, and the balance is due when the order is complete. We accept Visa, MC, debit, cheque and cash.   In the case of extended families, we do occasionally make online sales appointments with distant family members once the top choices have been selected bu the local family.

"the final print is the performance of the original concept that is visualized by the photographer."

Every portrait that is created is professionally enhanced and retouched with great attention to detail. Enhancing portraits can include smoothing skin, removing blemishes, softening lines, enhancing eyes, removing dark circles, whitening teeth and even sliming figures. We produce all our prints , both on canvas and paper in-house. Ken’s skill as a print artist help create unsurpassed quality and maximum impact. As a result of all this time consuming attention to detail final orders will take a approximately of 6-8 weeks and can be shipped to wherever you live.
