Family Fabulousness

Anniversaries, Birthdays, or just "We're all together!"

Clear Lake is a fabulous place for families to meet and celebrate the special occasions of our lives. This is often a wonderful opportunity to photograph your crew, in a relaxed and beautiful environment. Ken works to produce both technically wonderful images, and great expressions- no matter what the age.

Your eye goes to the lightest, brightest area of the portrait. We want that to be those beautiful faces in your family. So, again, the neutral tones, beiges, blues, pastels and simple solid tones are what we recommend for a beautiful blend with the outdoor backgrounds that we use at the lake.

Okay, having recommended that you consider clothing when planning a family portrait, we want to also express that it is MUCH more important to take advantage of the opportunity to capture the time together. Please, do not lose sleep over the “perfect” plan or family members who do not wish to comply with these suggestions. It is so much more important that everyone has fun and enjoys the time together.

What do we wear?

Fundamentals

Our goal is to create a piece of art with your family as the centerpiece, whether you plan on small prints, a collection, or wall art. The first fundamental law is that your eye is attracted to the brightest, lightest (or darkest) area of an image.

Neutrals

At the lake, the backdrops we use range from dark green, to medium sand , so beiges, creams, pastels, grays- any of the medium shades of colours work the best to keep the eye focused on people and faces.

Location, location, location...

Location, location, location: It is often difficult to imagine what you will do with the images that we take at your session, until you see them. However, give some thought to where you might display your art. Some families incorporate accent colours from your home decor into the clothing to coordinate themes.

Details

Shorts and bare feet are great for the lake, so we can pose people in water and sand as needed.

Trendy clothing will date your portrait quickly. Clothing that is simple and classic will keep your art from being tired.

Big patterns, bold stripes will grab the eye no matter what environment we use, so we recommend solids, or small patterns and stripes that will blend easily.
