How do we do it?
Photography can be deceptively simple and very complex at the same time. The proof is in the pudding, but the best quality imagery of interior spaces involves using additional lighting to balance daylight and interior light, both quantity and colour temperature. Images with off colour window views with a cloudy look to them are likely done with a simple multi exposure technique called HDR that doesn't include lighting. The windows and overall crispness of the images with correct colour are a telltale giveaway. HDR allows a photographer to be in and out of a home in record time, but it doesn't show the home in its best light. Premium properties certainly deserve to be shown without compromise, to get you the opportunity to get a face to face contact.
Next, the edit...
Editing the images is necessary to show the property in its best light and not to distort or misrepresent it in any way. A client that sees images that show a living room that looks massive will certainly be unhappy if they realize when they see it in person, that it has been stretched by the overuse of extreme wide angle perspective. That is not positive for you or your client. Having said that, we use multiple exposures, with and without flash and in post production pull the best of each to create a final image that you can be proud to show to your client. In the business, we call this the Flambient technique and final editing can involve contrast masking, luminance blending and more to make the best and most accurate rendition of the photo for your listing.
